1962 Harlech
Tools was established in 1962 as Precision Engineers, making
Press tools, Jigs and Fixtures.
1962-1991
The Company remained very small but a well respected engineering
workshop in Swansea.
1991 Management
buyout the Company was purchased by Mr. And Mrs. S.J. Watkins.
Steve Watkins a time served toolmaker joined the Company in
1979 and prior to the takeover was already taking care of
the day to day running of the Company which led to a smooth
transition.
1991 - Number
of Employees - 12 The main aim now was to move the Company
in a new and challenging direction and achieve growth by attracting
quality customers.To do this, the infrastructure had to be
changed, including the introduction of recognized quality
system etc.
1993 Harlech
achieved ISO9002 (BS5750) 1994 In line with our growth plans
Harlech moved to new premises in Ystradgynlais which at the
time was 50% larger, a freehold site with space for expansion.
1995-1997
Joined the Bosh Supplier Association, created to develop local
companies to become world class suppliers. Consultants were
- Stratagem and the W.D.A.
1995 - Rover
2nd tier Supplier Association.
1998 Joined
the Sony Supplier Association continuing the development of
the Company into lean manufacturing. Consultants were S.A
Partners and W.D.A
1998
- Relocated press shop into purpose built extension.
1998 - Relocated
Toolroom to new unit.
1999 - First
European customer Domestic Appliance manufacture, Germany.
1999 Indirect
export of our door catch to Hungary and Turkey by U.K Domestic
Appliance manufactures.
1999 - Relocated
Despatch area to new unit to create room for customer Kanban
Systems.
